About Lil & Dot England

Founded in 2025 by Heather Wood, Lil & Dot is a British design studio making hand-illustrated homewares.

Lil & Dot was founded in 2025 and named after my two grandmothers, Lil and Dot.

It began with a simple belief: that ordinary days deserve beauty. The cushion on the chair. The scarf folded in a drawer. The candle lit at the end of a long week. These are the things that hold a life, and they deserve to be made well.

Every pattern begins as a hand-drawn illustration in my studio in Kent. From there it becomes something you can live with — cushions, silk scarves, tea towels, wallpaper, candles. Each piece is designed with a feeling in mind, because a home isn't just somewhere you live. It's somewhere that shapes how your days feel.

A LETTER FROM ME

"I've always believed that a house becomes a home through the smallest things. The fabric you chose because it made you feel calm. The pattern on the wall that makes a morning feel softer. The throw you reach for of an evening.

Lil & Dot is my way of making those small things with intention. Of designing pieces that hold up to a life, and quietly support the one you want to live."

THE COLLECTIONS

The Lil & Dot Home Collection is the studio's core — hand-illustrated cushions, silk scarves, tea towels, aprons, and wallpaper, made in small batches in England.

Alongside the core collection, the studio releases concept-led pieces designed around a feeling or a moment. The first of these, the Candle Collection, gathers four candles around four moments in a day. More collections will follow, each with its own story.

THE WAY WE MAKE THINGS

I design every piece you see here at Lil & Dot. From there, I work with a small group of British makers I trust — ceramic vessels turned in Stoke-on-Trent, candles poured by hand in Surrey, cushions cut and sewn in London from organic cotton. Everything is made directly with the people who make it, in small batches. No overproduction, no sales, no unsold stock.

INSIDE THE STUDIO

This is where it all begins. A quiet room in Kent. A desk covered in sketches, paint tubes, and paper. The slow back-and-forth of turning an idea into something you can hold. The fern that has somehow stayed alive longer than expected. The corkboard that fills up with sketches, pressed plants, and pieces of fabric. Most days are quiet. I think that's the point.

THE CIRCLE

Lil & Dot is small and intentional, and so is the world around it. A circle of makers, photographers, friends, and customers who care about the same things — beautiful objects, made well, lived with for a long time.
