About

Hi, I'm Heather, I create hand-illustrated homewares for people who want their space to feel calm, personal, and quietly supportive.

Every piece begins as hand-drawn artwork — botanical illustrations shaped by close observation of the natural world, historic pattern traditions, and the unhurried rhythm of everyday life. These drawings become cushions, throws, silk accessories, and candles, all handmade in the UK and designed to be layered, lived with, and loved over time.

Most pieces are made to order or produced in small batches. This slower approach is deliberate — it allows us to focus on craftsmanship, reduce waste, and create things that last.

The story behind the brand

Lil & Dot started in a garden. A tiny one — mostly paved, north-facing, surrounded by conifers that kept it permanently shady.

I was running on empty at the time. Working full-time, designing patterns on the side, running on anxiety and not much else. That small imperfect garden became my sanctuary. I researched what might grow in deep shade. Ferns. Heuchera. Hellebore. Slowly, plant by plant, I made it work.

I started taking my sketchbook outside. Drawing felt like the only time my mind went quiet. When I looked back at those sketches — the ferns unfurling, the hellebores nodding — I realised they were exactly what I wanted in my home. That garden's peace, translated into pattern.

That became the first collection. Since then, the designs have grown from wherever I find that same quiet attention — daisies that carry memories of making daisy chains, clover picked in childhood fields, cosmos flowers, flowing acanthus leaves. Each pattern begins with slowing down and letting a plant or a memory find its way onto paper.

The name

Lil & Dot is named after my grandmothers — a reminder that home is shaped by feeling as much as function, and that the objects we surround ourselves with can carry meaning and memory.

Both my parents are creative — my dad is a photographer and painter, my mum was always making things when I was little. She's forever rearranging her home, which is probably where I get my love of cushions from.

If you're drawn to slower living, to thoughtfully chosen objects, to making space for calm — I hope you find something here that feels right.
